Those Who Can't, Teach - Online Watch Party!
We had wanted to keep you all engaged and immersed in theatre during these times, which is why we began offering free access to the video recording of our much-loved 2017 production, Those Who Can't, Teach. But then we thought, hey, let's up the ante, shall we?
LET'S HAVE AN ONLINE WATCH PARTY FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T, TEACH!
We've gathered our Artistic Director Alvin Tan, Resident Playwright Haresh Sharma, and cast members Ghafir Akbar, Joshua Lim, Karen Tan, Lian Sutton and Siti Khalijah Zainal, who'll be joining our online audience to watch Those Who Can't, Teach! Don't miss this party where we will get to laugh together—and get teary sometimes too—over the antics of Teck Liang and his friends from MPSS, much to Mrs Phua's chagrin. After the show, we'll get to chat with the cast about the production—just like your post-show dialogues in theatre!
Tickets are FREE but there're limited slots for 100 of you, so don't wait to grab front row seats for this experience!
THE NECESSARY STAGE
THOSE WHO CAN'T, TEACH — AN ONLINE WATCH PARTY
First staged in 1990 and subsequently in 2010 to full houses at the Singapore Arts Festival, Those Who Can’t, Teach is a Singaporean theatre classic by Cultural Medallion winners Alvin Tan and Haresh Sharma.
Set in a secondary school, the play looks at the madcap lives of teachers and students—with often hilarious results. As the teachers struggle daily to 'nurture and groom', the students prefer to hang out and chill. In the meantime, they all have to deal with the dreaded 'parents'.
With upskirting and texting, teaching and politicking, school has never been the same. Join the rambunctious cast of characters as they struggle to prove that Those Who CAN, Teach.
